I can work either on an hourly rate or a flat fee. You will find my rates to be substantially lower than the rates of other construction attorneys in the area. This is because I have very low overhead due to having an almost paperless, part-time practice.
The hourly fee is the traditional form of billing for legal services. In many instances, it is an appropriate and effective billing method. However, it is no secret that hourly legal fees can be and have been abused. Thus, I am willing to negotiate flat fees for well-defined scopes of engagement. Contractors are often asked to put a hard number on a project and bear the risk of its ultimate cost, and lawyers should be no different. Just give me a call if you have a particular scope of service in mind, and we can discuss how best to price the work.
